Florence Short Term Fellowships Program: the call for applications

The Sangalli Institute for the religious history and cultures is glad to announce to the international scientific community the launch of the ‘Florence Short Term Fellowships Program in Religious History and Religious Studies’: for the academic year 2016-2017, five residential monthly fellowships (worth 2,000 euros each) will be offered to international scholars of every nationality with an excellent qualification on religious topics, privileging interdisciplinary, interreligious and multi-cultural perspectives. The program is held in collaboration with the City of Florence and the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Center, and with the financial support of the Ente Cassa di risparmio di Firenze. Orlando Furioso, 1516-2016 – Call for papers

On the occasion of the fifth centennial of the Orlando Furioso editio princeps, which appeared in Ferrara in 1516, our Institute and the Famiglia Artistica Reggiana-Studium Regiense Foundation in Reggio Emilia, with the participation of the Centro studi Matteo Maria Boiardo in Scandiano, will organize the two-days conference “Orlando Furioso 1516-2016. ‘Cities and Religions. Past and Present for a peaceful coexistence’. A new scholarship

On the occasion of the Forum ‘Unity in Diversity’, that will take place in Florence next 5th-8th November 2015, with the participation of the Mayors of a hundred cities around the world specifically involved in peace and peaceful coexistence among people, reminding a similar initiative thought and desired in 1965 by the Mayor of Florence Giorgio La Pira, the Sangalli Institute offers its third scholarship for this year, whose title is ‘Cities and Religions. Past and Present for a peaceful coexistence’, in collaboration with the Municipality of Florence, promoter of the Forum, and with the participation of UBI – Banco di Brescia. The winner will be rewarded by the Mayor of Florence Dario Nardella and by the President of our Institute during the days of the Forum. Download the announcement for more details.

Announcement of selection for the ‘Sangalli Institute Award for the Religious History’

Here is, as announced, the announcement of selection for the ‘Sangalli Institute Award for the Religious History’, in collaboration with the Department of University and Research of the Municipality of Florence, represented by its chief Cristina Giachi. Our Award, adjoining this year the ‘Premio Ricerca Città di Firenze’, is under the auspices of the Municipality of Florence. Addressed to young Italian and Foreign researchers, it will offer to the two winners the possibility to publish books concerning the religious history from Middle Ages to the Contemporary Era, in a new book series of the Firenze University Press. Deadline: 1st November 2015.
