On Wednesday 23rd November 2022, at 5.30 pm, in the Institute headquarters, the launch of Alessandra Giannotti’s ‘Sculture in terracotta. Devozione nella casa fiorentina del Rinascimento’, Leo S. Olschki 2021, will take place. Carlo Sisi and Bruce Edelstein will discuss about the individual and familiar devotions in Renaissance Florence, in relations with their ‘objects’, specifically the terracotta sculptures; about their artistic and religious commission and about the attention with which the collectors during the following years have helped the preservation of those artistic objects. Here we are with the autumn series of online launches entitled ‘Religious relations, conflicts and mobilities from Middle Ages to the Contemporary Era’, organized by our former scholarship owners Matteo Binasco, Laura Fenelli and Maria Chiara Rioli. During the months of November and December, the recent books by David Salomoni, Alessandro Santagata and Giovanna Fiume will be launched and discussed. Download here the program for more details.
Here is the call for application of the second winter seminar organized by our Institute to to propitiate the approach of the young scholars in Humanities to the knowledge and the use of the archives of the Holy See and of the Roman Catholicism, through lectures and workshops held by renowned scholars who have attended them and deeply know them, and through guided tours to the State Archives of Rome, and to the Archives of the Congregation for the doctrine of the faith, Propaganda Fide, Apostolic Penitentiary and Fabbrica di San Pietro. During the last week of the next month of January 2023, a selected group of researchers will be guided to the comprehension of the papal documents, together with the knowledge of the archives they are stored in.
